The breaking news today is that PM & Chairperson UPA inaugurated the much hyped UID project. NDTV website quotes “Ten adivasis from the tribal hamlet of Tembhli on Wednesday became the first to receive the Unique Identity Numbers from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh & Ms. Sonia Gandhi, who said this would help the poor get the benefits of welfare projects”.
So this place is Tembhli, a tribal hamlet in the backward Nandurbar District, a place from where Ms. Gandhi started her maiden political rally, and is a district which has elected only Congress representatives and is also considered the most backward region in the country… What do we comment on the irony…and what an exclamation on the achievement of UPA…not to take anything away from the UID project!
